Just Like Daddy.

Roman has been able to do "imaginative play" with his cars and construction trucks for quite some time, but now his imagination is starting to get bigger and better. In the last few weeks he has started to walk to the front door and say, "Bye, mama. I go to work." And then he'll stand there for a moment and then walk back into the living room and say, "I'm home now." And then I'll ask him if he had a good day, and he always responds with an unequivocal "yes." Oh, the best part is when I tell him to have a nice day when he's on his way to "work," and he shakes his heads and says, "yes," very matter-of-factly. It brings a smile to my face every time. He has also started to get into his jeep and tell me that he's leaving for work, and then get out and tell me that he's come home. This afternoon while we were playing outside he took his little game even further. I was pushing Livie on the swing, and Roman comes up to me and says, "Bye, mom. I see you later. I have to work on my engine," and he walks over to his jeep and opens the hood and "works" on it. Then he closes it, tells me he's off to work, and "drives" away (even though he could really drive away in his jeep, it still startles him, so he just sits in it.). Then he procedes to tell me that he's home for dinner and climbs up in an outdoor chair and pretends to eat, says that I made a good dinner, and then tells me he has to work on his engine again, but this time he decided he needed to work on his tires instead. He did this over and over again, and had the best time in his own little world this afternoon. And it's no surprise where he gets this all from; Rome apparently wants to be just like daddy.
