Happy Halloween!

Romey's first Halloween party was a success! We were invited over to Ken and Lexy's on Saturday night, so Marc and I had to find costumes for ourselves (we have had Rome's for about a month now), and we decided to keep in with the lion theme. I was a ringmaster/lion tamer, and Marc was a lion wrangler/keeper. I think we looked pretty darn cute for our first family Halloween. I was worried that Roman wouldn't like wearing his costume, but he seemed to really like it, but he did have a bit of trouble crawling around... that mane must have been pretty heavy. And Rome was fascinated by these flashing skulls; he thought they were the coolest things ever. Thanks so much Ken and Lexy for having us! We had a great time!

And then this morning we carved our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch! Rome wasn't really a fan, which I thought was odd because I figured that he would like to squish around in the pumpkin mess. We didn't have/couldn't find any of the cool, special tools that we have used in the past, so Marc brought out his Dremmel to do Rome's little pumpkin. Of course as we were carving pumpkins I couldn't help but remember last year up in Julian with Erin and Rick and my huge belly carving pumpkins. It was so much fun, and we even got a trick-or-treater, which is pretty good for mom's house. And this year we had maybe ten at our house. Ten?? That's it? I know it's a school night, but come on; ten is pathetic. When you grow up in a small town you can expect most, if not all, of the houses to be handing out candy--or walnuts and pennies like the old lady a couple blocks from our old house--, but I think Marc and I were the only people on this side of the block who were giving out candy this year, which is also pathetic. Where is everyone's holiday spirit? I don't want to get all ranty here, but come on people. Stop being lame... oh... knock at the door... We're up to 15, but seeing as it's past 8 I cannot imagine that we're likely to get many more on a Monday night. We decided not to go trick-or-treating tonight ourselves because really the candy would have been for us not Romey, and we definitely don't need anymore treats around here. I think we'll have to wait until Roman can actually say "trick or treat" before we go.
