Erin's Visit... and Rick Was Here, Too.

I was so super excited that Erin was able to come down and stay with us for the weekend, and, while Rick was also down in San Diego, we didn't get to see him very much. Hmmm. I just reread that first sentence and it sounds as though I was excited that I didn't have to see Rick much. Oh well. I'm leaving it. I am sure that you all know that's not what I meant. Really, we didn't see Rick because his friends had a baby a couple months ago, and this trip was planned so he could visit them, so I grabbed Erin early Saturday morning, and we spent the entire weekend together. First up: Balboa Park. On one of the random days that Romey and I were wandering through Balboa, I was talking with Erin, and she said how much she wanted to do that, so that's the first thing we did. We played at the jungle gym, grabbed some coffee, wandered around a little, met up with Ken and Lexy, wandered some more, and had lunch at the park. It was such a beautiful day. Those are my favorite kind of days: lazy wander-around-with-no-purpose days. I realized that day, though, that I must stop making recommendations for the places at which I love to eat. It never seems to fail that I will rave about something, and then we'll get there and something will go wrong. In this case we had the worst service I have had in quite sometime. I'm not sure what the problem was exactly, but this girl took her sweet time to do any little thing. It was pretty annoying. The food was still good, and I am sure I will go back, but I will no longer tell people to go there. I am cursed I tell you. After I took Rome and Marc home, I caught back up with Ken and Lexy and Erin. We grabbed more coffee (don't worry, I only had decaf), did a little shopping, and then relaxed at their place before we had dinner. This will be a theme: do something, drink coffee, eat. It's the way we like to spend our days, and Erin had some places in mind so that she could eat at her favorite places while she was here.

Day 2: Wedding Dress Shopping!!! It was such a great day. Erin and I got out of the house pretty early so she could get herself a little pampering before the day began. Then we grabbed some smoothies and headed over to Ken and Lexy's, but just as I was about to pull down Ken and Lexy's driveway I got a massive soft-pretzel craving, so we immediately turned around and headed to the mall so I could grab a pretzel. There was no way that that craving was going to let go of me, so I went for it. Anyhoo, after I got my pretzel fix, Ken, Lexy, Erin, Jennie, Jenny, and I went to buy Erin's wedding dress!!! It was so much fun , and Erin chose the most beautiful dress... I was so proud of myself because it was the dress I chose from the website, and it was perfect! And Erin looked so beautiful that I cried and cried as soon as she stepped out in it (Ken has a video that I will post once everyone has seen the dress). I am going to partially blame that on pregnancy hormones, but all of us got a bit teary... except for Ken. He was such a good sport for coming out, but it was funny while we were there because we were all looking through the dresses and catalogs, and oohing and aahing, and he, well he sat down and waited while playing on his phone. Then he told me that he really, honestly, truly could not tell the difference between the first and second dress that she tried on. When I showed him in the pictures how different they were, then he could see it. Sort of. Ah, boys. But everyone was super happy that he decided to come out, and it was nice to have someone taking pictures while I was a mess. And if you're looking for dress spoilers you can forget it. I am keeping the images of Erin in her dress locked down until after the wedding. Sorry everyone, but get ready to cry, as evidenced by this picture:

So, I guess technically that is a picture of Erin in her dress, so you're welcome.

And of course once we were done we grabbed lunch at Tio Leo's, and then some coffee, and then we went back to Ken and Lexy's to hang out for a bit.

Day 3: Safari Park!! Of course any trip down here wouldn't be complete with a trip to the WAP. We mostly wandered around while Roman pushed the stroller around, but I also had to show Erin the pure joy and excitement that is Roman on a carousel. Seriously, he has so much fun. We also had some fun at the fountain, but since it was a little drizzly that day, we just looked, but didn't really touch the fountains. It was a great weekend, and even though it was short, we crammed as much a possible into it... including a California burrito and a trip to Chopsticks with Rick! So much food. Delicious, delicious food.
