We have been having so much fun up in Walnut Creek visiting everyone. Brad, Kate, Dylan, and the dogs drove out from Pennsylvania, so we came up here to finally meet Dylan and spend time with Marc's family. It is just so relaxing up here... well, when we have plenty of time to spend. Some of our trips are really short, and so we feel a bit rushed trying to see everyone. But Romey, the dogs, and I have two whole weeks to spend, and Marc was here for about a week, but then had to go home, but he will be back up at the end of the week for a conference in San Francisco. We have barbecued, gone for walks, played some games, and just hung around the house visiting, and it has been so nice. We tried to take family pictures, but I am not sure that many of them turned out because Rome really really didn't want to sit still, but, hey, at least we tried. And Marc and I seriously love the above picture, so I think it's just going to show up from here on out in every blog post. That's Roman enjoying the barbecue with a big chunk of watermelon. He ate two big pieces and still wanted more. I guess this is why it feels like you're hauling a sack of bricks when you carry him around.
And Romey and Dylan got time to play. It was interesting to see Romey being the "big-kid" because he is usually the youngest of the bunch. I always feel so bad for him because the older babies will take the toy that he is playing with, and he's just not sure how to respond, but this time Rome was the big kid taking toys, and I felt bad for Dylan. Oh well. I guess it's just a part of learning to play with others.
I also finally got to meet Caleb and Mallory!! YAAAY! And they are such adorable babies, and I absolutely love them. Sarah is doing so super-amazingly and just seems like an old pro. It's so funny how many people come up to her to tell her how amazing she is because she is showered and put together and out and about with the twins. Sarah thinks it's no big deal since this is just her everyday life now, but she really is doing great. And the twins are just as great. They are growing like little weeds, and they are so sweet, and I you can see their little personalities coming through already. I think that Caleb is going to pretty much go with the flow, but little girl Mal is going to be a pistol; just the way a little girl is supposed to be. Roman was very curious about the babies, but since he doesn't understand how big he is, we had to keep and eye on him around the babies... especially if either of them had a pacifier. Apparently Roman believes that all pacifiers are his pacifiers, and he kept stealing Mallory's. And poor Caleb. All he wanted to do was sleep in that bouncy chair, but Roman really really wanted to play with it... Sorry kids.
I love that picture. It's like Rome's saying, "What mom?? I'm just looking... honest!"
I have so much more to blog about, so I am going to have to do this in installments. Until the next one...
