Can I just talk, for a moment, about how awful the 12 month appointment was? Romey was a trooper, but seriously, a TB test and vaccines? Poor little man. Needless to say, he was not a happy camper. Poor Marc had to basically pin the little guy down during the TB test, and Rome was screaming in a way that I have never heard him scream before, but because the test can apparently be a little traumatic, Dr. Martinez recommended that we just do it now, and hopefully he will just forget all about it at this young age. And since we are in a high risk area (because of immigration and whatnot), we decided to have it done. Marc and I both had to try to breathe and relax after that. I have to take him in today to have his little TB test read, and I am hoping he doesn't freak out that we're back in the doctor's office.
Anyway, before that whole ordeal, Dr. Martinez said that Romey is really doing great, that Rome "passed" his developmental screening, and that he is right on track with his growth (still hanging out in the 85th-95th percentiles). The only thing he asked us about, really, is the fact that Rome is still not clapping. Apparently this is a big deal, but because Roman will bang two objects together when he's holding them, Dr. Martinez is not that concerned. I was laughing because at the end of this really long questionnaire about the things that Rome is and is not doing, the last question is: "Do you have any questions or concerns about your child's development?". I looked at Marc and said, "Well I didn't until I had to fill out this questionnaire!" But Rome passed, and he is on track, so I guess I won't freak out too much. We also got the sad news that Dr. Martinez is leaving CPCMG. Noooo!! We love Dr. Martinez, and now he have to make the decision to follow him to an office which is further away, or choose a new doctor at our current location. I am still up in the air, but I am going to need to make Rome's 15 month appointment fairly soon, so I will have to decide pretty quickly.
Roman's stats this time: 30.75 inches (which, if you're paying close attention is the same as last time, but Dr. Martinez thinks that the last measurement was likely an error), and 24 lbs 12 oz.
And here are a couple more pictures of our darling son just absolutely destroying the examination room. Thanks bud... we all appreciated that.
